Who We Are

About The Larbi Foundation

The Larbi Foundation (TLF) is a 501 (c(3) –  Non-for-Profit (NFP) organisation) incorporated in the State of Illinois, USA. The primary objective of the Larbi Foundation  is to serve underprivileged and undeserved in our societies. TLF is led by a seven-member team in Ghana and a board of six directors in the USA.

In the year 2002, out of a burden to help alleviate the sufferings and economic distress of single-family homes, due to death, low income, and lack of accessible resources that had plagued a couple of people in the community, I embarked on a journey to assist five families that had genuine and deep-seated economic needs. At this time, all I could do was pay for services and provide meals for the affected families out of an abundance of caution, so as not to be taken advantage of by the beneficiaries.

It came to light that I could partner with specific individuals and vocational institutions, such as dressmakers, carpenters, electricians, caterers, masonry, and construction companies, to seek apprenticeships and internships for the affected people in the area. As a result, we successfully launched our program and had about eleven successful applicants, and they moved on to be employed by their trainers.

With this success, I expanded the number to more affected individuals in the community, reaching out through community leaders to identify people who needed assistance but were willing to learn a vocation, except those who wanted to enter traditional educational institutions.

This program started the Larbi Foundation projects, but for the most part, they were under wraps because my immediate family and I financed them.

Then in the year 2020, after a visit home to see my parents, I saw the ravages of COVID-19 and its impact on people I have known and cared about; seeing first-hand how much pain and suffering they were in, I decided to amp up the pressure to build TLF to embrace and receive support from others to assist a broad number of people because, at this point, my resources were limited.
