Menstrual Hygiene Program at Nii Kojo Ababio Basic School
On the 28th of May, 2024, The Larbi Foundation (TLF) organized an impactful Menstrual Hygiene program for young girls at Nii Kojo Ababio Basic School. The event was a significant success, addressing both the practical and psychological aspects of menstruation to promote health and well-being among the students.
Approximately 600 sanitary pads were distributed to all the girls in attendance, ensuring they had the necessary resources for proper menstrual hygiene. The event also included practical demonstrations on how to use sanitary pads correctly, along with essential hygienic practices to maintain cleanliness and health during menstruation.
To provide a comprehensive understanding of menstruation, TLF invited Mr. Eugene Tornyeavah, a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience, to educate the young girls on the psychological aspects of menstruation. Mr. Tornyeavah’s session was highly informative, helping the girls understand and manage the emotional and psychological changes that accompany menstruation.
The program aimed to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and empower young girls with knowledge and confidence. By addressing both the practical and psychological needs of menstruation, TLF ensured that the girls are better prepared to handle this natural process with dignity and care.
The Menstrual Hygiene program at Nii Kojo Ababio Basic School is a testament to TLF’s commitment to promoting health education and supporting the well-being of young girls. The foundation continues to make significant strides in its mission to provide essential services and education to underserved communities, fostering a healthier and more informed generation.
The event received positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the practical knowledge and support provided. TLF remains dedicated to addressing the needs of the community and looks forward to organizing more such programs in the future.
